The Journey: From Medicine to Mission
Indika’s story began in the clinical world. After completing his Canadian medical exams in the early 2000s, his path took an unexpected turn that would eventually redefine senior care in Ottawa. While working alongside onsite physicians in local retirement homes, Indika witnessed a recurring struggle: seniors navigating rigid, institutional systems that often lacked the flexibility and personalized dignity they deserved.
This experience had a profound impact. He saw the generation that built this country facing their most vulnerable years in environments that didn’t always prioritize their individual voices. Driven by a deep sense of responsibility, Indika founded Dream Team Home Care to bridge that gap.

Under Indika’s leadership, Dream Team Home Care was built on a simple but unwavering philosophy: Care is more than a service—it is a connection. By applying his clinical background to the standards of home care, Indika ensured that the “Dream Team” wasn’t just a group of employees, but a specialized collective of health professionals. From in-home physician visits to the establishment of clinics within the Elizabeth Bruyère and Perley Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre, his focus has remained steadfast: preventing unnecessary hospitalizations and improving the quality of daily life through expert-guided support.

This realization led to the expansion of his vision. Today, Indika integrates his healthcare mission with professional expertise in Real Estate and Mortgage Solutions (via Nextera Mortgages). By becoming a “one-stop shop” for life’s major transitions, he ensures that families can access coordinated support for healthcare, housing, and financing—all under one trusted roof, and always at the client’s pace.

Beyond his work with seniors, Indika is a passionate advocate for the caregivers themselves. Having seen the strain on healthcare workers during the pandemic, he is dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive team that supports newcomers, young talent, and minority communities, providing them with meaningful opportunities for stability and growth.
